The combustion of charcoal leads to the production of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases, and suspended particles, which are detrimental to air quality and climate change. In addition, unbalanced and illegal charcoal harvesting can lead to the reduction of forests and environmental degradation. Therefore, the sustainable and responsible use of charcoal and the protection of its natural resources are very important.

How to prepare charcoal

Preparing charcoal for cooking or grilling can be done in three ways: the classic method, the oven method, and the gas method.

 

Classic method:

1. Cut the pieces of wood to the required size. It is better to use hard wood such as oak, walnut or almond.

2. Place the pieces of wood in a plate or container and cover it with parchment paper.

3. Place the wood on a surface of a grill or... The heat of the fire should be moderate so that the charcoal burns evenly and completely.

4. Leave the wood for 30 to 45 minutes until it burns completely and charcoal is formed.

5. Carefully remove the charcoal from the fire and let it cool completely. Then you can use it in cooking or grilling.

Gas method:

1. Cut the pieces of wood to the required size and put them in a pot.

2. Put the pot on the gas flame and cover it with a tight lid. Make sure no air can get into the pot.

3. Put the pot on the gas flame and leave it for at least 2 hours until the wood burns completely and charcoal is formed.

4. Take the pot out of the gas flame and let it cool completely. You can then use the charcoal in cooking or grilling.
